Psychotherapy East
We are a group of psychotherapists based in East London with a mission to offer high quality in-depth psychotherapy. All of our clinicians are registered and regulated by the British Psychoanalytic Council.
If you are looking for therapy then we hope this website will be helpful and we encourage you to get in touch to arrange an initial consultation.
We primarily work from our consulting rooms in Dalston and Hackney, while some of our clinicians also have availability in High Holborn and Camberwell.
What we do
We provide open-ended psychotherapy in East London and seek to sustain a creative clinical setting where patients can feel trusting that they are receiving the best care possible. Each member of our clinical team is highly trained and regulated by the British Psychoanalytic Council, with extensive experience in a wide range of psychological problems and interpersonal difficulties. We believe therapy should be a challenging task where both you and your psychotherapist work together to face the most painful aspects of your experience in order to best find relief from mental pain, fresh perspectives on stuck patterns of living and relating, and hopeful horizons for the near future. We do not provide quick-fix answers, directive advice, or hastily formed diagnoses. Instead, our aim is to establish meaningful and lasting internal change through a process of deep listening and an atmosphere that promotes imaginative insight and profound respect for each person's particular personality and experiences.
Who we work with
We welcome patients from all backgrounds and our clinical team is committed to providing sensitively attuned work across perceived boundaries of cultural and social difference. We are primarily a clinic for adults but we have some vacancies for children, adolescents, and families, with specialist Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists accredited by the Association of Child Psychotherapists. Each member of our clinical team maintains a small number of "sliding-scale" vacancies that are reserved for individuals with lower incomes who are seeking psychotherapy.
Next steps
You can email, call, or text us to arrange an initial free consultation by telephone. Following this, if psychotherapy seems the right choice for you, we would pair you with a therapist for an initial in-person consultation. The fee for that first meeting is £80. Any questions you may have about the therapeutic process, practical matters, or anything besides can be raised and discussed in that initial in-person meeting with one of our psychotherapists.
Location
We have plans to operate a clinical centre within Hackney by late 2024. In the meantime, our clinical team work from their personal consulting rooms or workplaces. Please note this means we may have available vacancies in Camberwell and High Holborn, as well as in Dalston and Hackney.
Method
Our method of psychotherapy can be broadly understood as psychoanalytic or psychodynamic, meaning we seek to understand the parts of your experience that lie at the edge of awareness, often motivated by unconscious processes. A helpful description of this way of working is available here
